Debate urged on council services

There needs to be a "full and open" debate about what services local councils provide in the future, a Holyrood committee has said.

Members of the Scottish Parliament's Local Government and Communities Committee have been looking at the financial pressures councils are under.

Committee convener Duncan McNeil said that to help make savings, councils should be looking at ways that they could group together to provide shared services.
