No takers for mortgage scheme

A scheme to help homeowners struggling with mortgage payments has not been taken up by a single family.

The Scottish Government released figures showing only five households had been eligible for the Mortgage to Shared Equity programme since its launch in March - two opting for a different scheme - with three yet to reply to officials.

The equity scheme - part of the wider £35 million Home Owners' Support Fund - gives the Government a stake in people's homes, allowing owners to reduce the level of debt.
