Fresh elections demand to Brown

Fresh demands for Scotland to take control of its own elections have been aimed at Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The SNP administration said speculation this week over the future of the office of Secretary of State for Scotland - which organises elections - raised serious questions for the future.

Bruce Crawford, the minister for parliamentary business at Holyrood, wrote to Mr Brown following reports that a new secretary for devolved nations could be created.
