Clearances monument unveiled

A statue commemorating the achievements of Highlanders cleared from their land has been unveiled in Canada.

The 10ft bronze monument, called Exiles, is the partner to a second statue at Helmsdale in Sutherland and is the first of its kind outside Scotland.

The statue was unveiled by Environment Minister Michael Russell during a ceremony in Winnipeg.
