Primary school gets a glowing report card

A SCHOOL has been given a royal seal of approval for working in partnership on a shared campus.

Johnstone’s Cochrane Castle Primary was commended by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education for its links with St David’s Primary and West Johnstone Learning Centre.

The inspection team from the government body visited the school, located at West Johnstone Campus, in February and highlighted good practice to be shared with other schools.

They said the school provided children with opportunities to work with others to understand their local and wider community.

Head teacher Kate Clark said: “I am delighted that the great teamwork at Cochrane Castle Primary School and our positive partnerships with parents and establishments in West Johnstone Campus has been recognised.

“It is pleasing that the work of our well behaved, motivated, young citizens and highly committed staff has been commended by the HMIe team.”

The school’s partnership with pupils’ parents was also praised and the report outlined a number of key strengths, including highly motivated, well-behaved children who are eager to learn; the welcoming ethos, very good relationships and the outstanding commitment of staff to the care and welfare of children; children’s achievements in listening and talking; promotion of children’s health and wellbeing; inclusion of all children in the life of the school; impact of leadership in building teamwork and developing partnerships with other schools and the wider community

Renfrewshire Council’s Director of Education John Rooney said: “I am delighted that the staff at Cochrane Castle Primary School have continued to build and improve on the school’s good reputation.”
