A hair-raising scene resulted after a motorist ploughed into a hair salon
Fortunately, no-one was injured when the plush Mercedes mounted the pavement and smashed into Paris Hair & Beauty Co.
The accident happened late at night in Renfrew’s Glebe Street when the road was quiet and mainly occupied by pub-goers .
Paris Hair & Beauty Co owner Susanne MacDonald rushed to the scene after being alerted by friends.
She said: “There was glass everywhere, the windows were smashed, and the headlight from the car was even in the middle of the salon.
“An iron grille from the shop was lying on the roof of the car.
“There was wood from the salon on the car too.
“The mirror fittings in my shop were all bent but the mirrors themselves were still intact, amazingly.”
The front and interior of the Paris Hair & Beauty Co, in Renfrew’s Glebe Street, was seriously damaged after the Mercedes SLK was involved in the incident at around midnight on Friday into Saturday morning.
The smash destroyed windows and doors as well as equipment inside the business.
Despite the devastation, Ms MacDonald said she was determined to get the shop up and running again in time for opening on the Saturday morning.
“I phoned round every single emergency glazier that said they did a 24-hour service and not one of them got back to me,” she said.
“So I stayed there until five in the morning while my husband was at home with the children and then he came and took over.
“We couldn’t have left the salon in case anything was stolen.
“We went to a DIY store first thing in the morning and within 10 minutes we had the place boarded and fixed up.
“It was quite a talking point when the customers came in, but they were delighted they could still get their appointments.”
Ms MacDonald said she is not sure how much it will cost to repair the damage, but it is expected to reach thousands of pounds.
And she added: “We are still open for business.”
