A SCHOOLGIRL is hoping the sky’s the limit as she takes part in the Miss Teen Galaxy competition.
Amy Gardiner has been chosen to represent Paisley at the awards event next March.
The 15-year-old, who is being sponsored by car parts business Paisley Autocare in the final, is keen to do some charity and voluntary work in the area.
Proud mum Janette said: “Amy got the good news she was through to the grand final but with the confirmation she was told she had to get sponsorship of £295.
“We approached businesses around where we stay in north Glasgow and although they were happy to help, they didn’t want to give her any money.
“I spoke to my cousin John Convery who owns Paisley Autocare on Glasgow Road and he agreed to sponsor her and pay the money. So Amy’s sash says Miss Teen Paisley Galaxy 2013.
“We’d like to do things in the Paisley area since that’s where she represents.”
The final is in March next year down in Lancashire and Amy is one of four from Scotland through to the UK final.
If she becomes Miss Teen Scotland then she’ll be put forward for the Miss Teen International final, which will be held in the USA in 2014.
Janette said she’s enjoying the preparation for the event. She explained: “One night she was sitting online and saw the website. She’s always been into modelling and doing things with her hair and make-up and asked if she could enter it and send some photographs so I said yes.
“A few weeks later she got an email saying she had been selected.
“She was over the moon to reach the grand final.
“It’s the first time Amy has entered anything like this. I think she’d like to do modelling when she’s older.”
As part of her entry to the competition, Amy, who’s a fifth year pupil at Springburn Academy, is keen to do voluntary work in the Paisley area.
Janette said: “If there are any gala days or charity events happening, Amy would like to get involved and support them in any way she can.
“She can do fundraising or go along to help at gala days, she’s quite happy to help with all that.”
