Cash boost ‘in store’ for veterans

VETERANS charity Erskine has received a boost with news that a popular high street store is planning a prolonged fundraising venture.

Staff at the Linwood Matalan will be taking part in different ventures over the next few months to coin in cash for the charity.

Ten staff will be tackling the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis, while others have opted to keep their feet firmly on the ground by organising an in-store fashion show.

Also on offer is a late-night opening exclusively for veterans, their families and Erskine staff so they can browse at their leisure.

Graeme Whiteside, manager of the branch, told the Paisley Daily Express: “We chose Erskine as we wanted to give something back to the heroes who have already given their all to support our country.

“The ‘Matalan Linwood 10’, who will be braving the perils of Ben Nevis, are all proud to be doing so for a charity which is close to our hearts and those of our customers.

“We are also looking forward to welcoming Erskine veterans along to a private shopping evening in our store very soon.”

Linda O’Malley, Erskine’s corporate fundraiser, insisted the tie-in was a ‘perfect fit’ for the veterans in her care.

She added: “We are delighted that Matalan Linwood are fundraising for Erskine over the next few months.

“We look forward to working closely with them in their fundraising ventures.”
