New witness appeal in murder bid hunt

STABBED shopkeeper Javid Ali remained critically ill in hospital yesterday.

Mr Ali, 48, was seriously injured in a knife attack at his Sunshine Grocers store in Green Road, Paisley, last Friday.

The dad-of-three is being treated at the town’s Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Detectives want to hear from two potential witnesses in connection with the attempted murder.

A man was seen leaving the store with a loaf of bread and stopping to talk to another man at a phone box just along the street, while a woman who is in her 30s and has short brown hair was spotted in a car outside Sunshine Grocers shortly before the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Duncan Sloan said: “We have had an encouraging response from the local community. However, I believe there are people still to come forward who hold information that may be key to this enquiry.”

Anyone with information should contact Paisley CID on 0141 532 5900.
