Charity bake is a piece of cake for big-hearted trio

THREE big-hearted children gave up their spare time to cook up fantastic fundraising venture.

Brothers Andrew Hay, 8, and five-year-old Jake, were joined by Lauren McPherson to whip up some delicious treats to sell for charity.

The enterprising children, who all come from the Cricketfield Estate, in Houston, made scrumptious brownies, cookies, truffles and much more in aid of Arthritis Research UK.

The kids sold their goodies to hungry neighbours and raised £36 for a charity that works to take the pain away from the 10 million sufferers of arthritis, which includes around 15,000 children.

The caring youngsters then presented the cash to a delighted Arthritis Research UK regional fundraising manager, Catriona Connelly.

She told the Paisley Daily Express: “This was a really lovely thing for the kids to do.

“They gave up their free time to raise money for people who are in a lot of pain and, particularly, children who aren’t able to enjoy the pain-free life that they have.

“The charity is delighted that they have decided to support us. They really are fantastic kids.”
