THREE men are facing drug charges after being arrested by the police following a car chase in Johnstone.
The trio – aged 19, 20 and 23 – were nabbed after their car crashed into a passing vehicle in the town’s Ellerslie Street on the afternoon of Friday, Janaury 20.
Cops had stopped the men, who were travelling in a Ford Fiesta, in nearby Collier Street and saw a package being thrown from the car window.
It is alleged that the package was later found to be herbal cannabis and drug paraphenalia.
A chase took place but, when the Fiesta reached Ellerslie Street, it collided with a silver Peugeot.
The driver of the Fiesta suffered minor injuries and was taken to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital as a precaution, while the driver of the Peugeot is believed to have been unhurt.
A police spokesperson said: “Three men are being reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged drug supply offences.”
Inspector Willie Paterson, of Johnstone Police, added that his officers will maintain a zero tolerance approach on drug dealing.
He said: “I would urge anyone with information on drug dealers to contact their local police or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
