A BOOK charting the story of a popular home for veterans is available again – and at a fraction of the original price.
Erskine was born out of the horrors of of the First World War, opening its doors in 1916.
The lifeline facility has cared for almost 100,000 former service men and women – and continues to do so to this day.
The book tells the tale of an incredible place and was first published 10 years ago.
It is now available at the Erskine Garden Centre, which is situated at the entrance to the home in Bishopton.
Titled, Do You Sleep with that Leg On?, the book, in hardback form, is on sale at the incredible price of £1.50.
Written by former journalist Harry Diamond, it includes a foreword by HRH The Prince of Wales.
There are many great photographs included within the pages, such as Sir Harry Lauder meeting veterans, and stunning archive photographs of troops fighting during the First World War.
Also included are snaps of Prince Charles, Princess Anne and the Duke of Kent visiting Erskine, and Jimmy Logan entertaining the ‘troops’.
All profits from the sale of the book will be ploughed straight back into Erskine funds.
