Machete attack injures man

A YOUNG man suffered a serious head wound yesterday after being attacked by a thug armed with a machete.

The 22-year-old victim was rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he needed more than six stitches inserted in a nasty gash.

The attack took place at around 3am yesterday as the victim walked through Ludovic Square, in Johnstone.

Police are searching through CCTV footage in the hope the assault was caught on film.

In an appeal for witnesses, a police spokesman said: “If anyone saw what happened or knows anything that might help our inquiries, they should call us on 0141 532 5900.”
