Time to raid your loft!

A PAISLEY care home is to turn two lengthy corridors into memory vaults – and they want YOUR help.

Staff at Braemount Care Home in Glenburn decided to re-decorate the internal walkways and hit on the idea of a memory lane theme.

Activities coordinator, Steven Drennan, is now hoping Buddies will rake through cupboards and lofts for any old Renfrewshire-related memorabilia in a bid to help them out.

He said: “Research has proved that old memorabilia is often good for stimulating the mind.

“So, when we were wondering how to decorate our corridors, we came up with the idea of doing so with a local and historical theme.”

Steven and colleagues are looking for items relating to old Renfrewshire firms such as Brown & Polson, Chivas Regal, Cadbury’s, Robertson’s Jam and, of course, both Ferguslie and Anchor Mills.

Steven said: “Many of our residents have no doubt worked in some of these old firms and would be happy to recall some of the great times they had.

“But we’re also looking for other items such as sports, perhaps St Mirren or the old Paisley Lions speedway team.”

Steven is hoping that caring Buddies can also come up with old photographs of Renfrewshire, as he insisted that old snaps really do help focus the mind.

If you can help Steven and the team with their plans, call the activities team on 0141 884 1260.
