Fashion fan Vikki hoping to win national style competition

A STYLISH student is in the running to become a fashion icon after making it through to the finals of a national competition.

Vikki Pollock, from Renfrew, is aiming to find fame and fortune through the Diet Coke and ASOS Street Style Stars.

Judges were aiming to uncover the most inspiring looks from around the country – and Vikki has won a place in the final 16.

The 17-year old is hoping to be one of three winners who will see their signature style up in lights on the world-famous Piccadilly sign in London later this year.

Vikki told the Paisley Daily Express: “I’m signed up to the ASOS website and they sent out an e-mail asking everyone to enter the Street Style competition.

“My sister Lynsay took the photo of me outside my house and I sent that in.

“Then I got an e-mail telling me I was through to the final 16. I was so excited and really shocked, I didn’t think I’d get picked.”

Vikki, who’s studying travel and tourism at James Watt College in Greenock, said she doesn’t have a famous fashion icon.

She said: “I buy all the fashion magazines and look at different styles. I really like going shopping and putting outfits together.

“I don’t have one fashion icon, if I see something nice a celebrity is wearing then I’ll try and copy it, but there’s no-one in particular I like.”

Vikki’s style is described on the website as: “A supersize blazer and socks with chunky heels add a cool fashion spin on summer classics like denim shorts and vests.”

The deadline for votes in Monday and Vikki has already enlisted her friends and family for support.

She said: “I put it on Facebook and asked people to vote for me.

“My mum and dad, Isabel and Alan, are really excited about it, I don’t think they thought I would get through to the final.”

Anyone who votes online is in with a chance of winning £1,000 to discover fashion online at ASOS.
