A COURT has heard how a brazen thief was caught red-handed as he tried to drag home a haul of stolen items.
John Tennant was seen to be pulling a trolley stacked high with four alloy wheels and tyres, plus a chainsaw, when the alarm was raised.
Officers went to an area of Paisley to intercept Tennant and stop him in his tracks.
When quizzed, he claimed he had retrieved the various items involved from a skip.
Tennant, 37, who lives in Murray Street where police stopped him, was arrested and when he appeared in custody at the town’s Sheriff Court, he admitted the “theft by finding” charge.
Defence agent Rhona Lynch last month conceded that her client had a considerable record which did him no credit.
She revealed that sentence had already been deferred in connection with another matter and reports were called for by the same court.
Tennant was jailed for a total of four months when he re-appeared for all matters to be dealt with.
