Road rage motorist tried to mow down man

DETECTIVES were yesterday trying to track down a road rage motorist who drove his car at a man in a bid to kill him.

The terrified 47-year-old victim managed to JUMP on to the bonnet of the black Vauxhall Corsa as it was about to mow him down in a Paisley housing scheme street.

Seconds later he slid off the vehicle and landed on the road.

He suffered slight injuries including bruising to his hip.

Last night police were treating the incident as attempted murder.

The horrific road rage incident happened on Foxbar Road in Foxbar, around 10pm on Wednesday, March 30.

Moments earlier the victim’s car was involved in a collision with the Corsa.

Both drivers got out to inspect the damage and a fierce row erupted.

The furious driver of the black car, which had a passenger inside, sped off and drove at the other motorist.

A source said: “He must have been fit. That probably saved him from serious injury, perhaps even saved his life.

“The man in the black car must have been really angry to drive it at someone.”

Minutes after the murder bid police arrived at the scene and closed a stretch of the road.

It’s understood police later found an abandoned black car in the Ferguslie Park area of the town.

The vehicle is now being examined by forensic experts.
