Love Wheely Was In The Air

CUPID paid a visit when a special tour of Paisley’s famous sites was organised by a group of volunteers who are better known for helping Buddies with their groceries.
Bosses at Shopmobility – an organisation which supports disabled, elderly and infirm shoppers by providing them with a motorised scooter – arranged the Walking Tour on Wheels event.
And there was a Valentine’s theme to the tour, which enabled people to  fall in love with Paisley town centre and its stunning buildings.
Starting from the Shopmobility base at The Paisley Centre car park, in Storie Street, the guided tour was led through the town before making its way to Tannahill’s Cottage, in Queen Street, where a buffet was laid on and a raffle was held.
Michelle Boyle, of Shopmobility, told the Renfrewshire World: “It was a great tour and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
“We had a bit of a Valentine’s Day theme, with heart-shaped balloons handed out, and we decorated Tannahill’s Cottage in that theme too.
“Everyone enjoyed a buffet, tea and a raffle on the day and I would like to say a big thanks to the staff at Paisley businesses Hamishes Hoose, the Wallace Bar, Cafe Borgia and the Grumpy Monkey coffee house, who generously donated prizes for the winners.
“We have had a lot of support from  local businesses to help keep the Shopmobility service going, which we greatly appreciate.”
The Walking Tour on Wheels event was free and carers were also invited to attend.
The Shopmobility team were also happy to welcome able-bodied people on the jaunt through Paisley.
And Michelle is now looking forward to organising another tour.
She added: “There’s no date set for the next one yet but I’m sure it will be just as big a success.
“We would also like to hear from people who would be willing to volunteer to help Shopmobility, either as escorts to service users or as voluntary office workers who could help to support our free service.”
The Shopmobility service is available from 10am until 4pm on Mondays to Fridays and from 10am until 3pm at weekends. For more information, call the team on 0141 889 0441.
