Top cop on hand to commend boys!

PAISLEY’S top policeman was guest of honour at an annual parade of the Boys Brigade.

Chief Superintendent Paul Main, who is the Honorary Vice President of the Paisley and District Battalion, was on hand to commend the boys on their achievements throughout the year.

The parade took place in Johnstone Town Hall and Mr Main was impressed by the fantastic turnout.

He said: “Once again, the Brigade has shown that given the right encouragement and guidance, young men can make a valid contribution to their community.”

A Battalion spokesman added: “Fifty-seven boys from the Paisley & District Battalion received their President’s badge certificate and will now work towards the Queen’s badge during the remainder of the year.”

Many more honours were bestowed upon proud boys throughout the evening.

Recognition

Seven members received recognition after achieving Bronze or Silver stages of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Meanwhile, the 1st Kilbarchan Company came up trumps by winning the Glasgow Airport Junior Section Championship Trophy, with the 1st Erskine finishing runners-up. The 1st Houston company were third.

The Braehead Company Section Championship Trophy was won by a jubilant 3rd Johnstone Company.

Following twelve different competitions throughout the year, the winning side accumulated a massive 261 points.

1st Elderslie finished narrowly behind on 256, while 15th Paisley were third on 234 points.
