Man stabbed in the back

POLICE appealed for witnesses yesterday after a young man was stabbed in the back during a frightening incident in Paisley’s East End.

The 23-year-old victim, who also suffered a chin injury, was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment after the attack and had stitches inserted in his wounds.

It’s understood police were called to a flat in the Seedhill Road area of the town at around 4.30pm on Monday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who had suffered a blade wound to his back and an injury to his chin.

Yesterday, it remained unclear exactly where the attack took place but police have been carrying out door-to-door checks in the area in a bid to find out more.

Detectives are treating the incident as a serious assault.

A police spokesman said: “We want to hear from anyone who witnessed this attack or knows anything about it.

“We would urge them to call Paisley Police Office on 0141 532 5900 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
