THERE were lots of ups and downs during the Little Flowers Nursery’s latest fundraising drive.
Almost 100 youngsters at the pre-school took part in a charity bounce to raise cash for the children’s ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Kids at the nursery in Glebe Street, Renfrew, took part in the sponsored event on an inflatable castle which had been hired for the charity fun day.
And they managed to raise a whopping £2,000 – with £400 going directly to the hospital.
Nurse Zoe Mair, 35, chairwoman of the Parent and Staff Group, said: “It was a great effort and a great day.
“We were blessed with absolutely gorgeous weather and we were all surprised at the amount of money the kids raised that day.”
The mum of two-and-a-half year old Lilley, who attends the nursery and took part in the special day, added: “The children’s ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital is one that is often forgotten about and as I am a nurse at Yorkhill I suggested it should receive the funds and I was backed by unanimous vote.
“Hopefully this donation will go some way to helping the ward continue the great work it does for all children in Renfrewshire.”
Organisers were delighted to be blessed with clear skies and sunshine for the event, which also had stalls.
Parents, children, staff and members of the local community enjoyed a variety of stalls, including home baking, tombola, face painting and much, much more.
Many of the prizes for raffles and items on the stalls were donated by parents of pupils at the nursery and the remaining funds raised on the day will be funnelled into the school’s funds to allow extra curricular activities.
Senior Charge Nurse for the ward, Jennifer Rodgers said: “We would like to thank everyone at the Little Flowers nursery for their tremendous fundraising efforts which have raised the fantastic amount of £400.
“The money will be spent on making the hospital stay of our young patients as comfortable as possible.”
