A SUCCESSFUL Paisley firm has beat the credit crunch gloom by being named as a top ten growing business in Scotland.
Bosses at gas, electrical and utilities group IQA, based in Abercorn Street, were delighted to be named as the ninth fastest rising business in Scotland by a prestigious magazine.
It’s the first time IQA has featured in the Insider’s top 100 poll, and spokesman Allan Feeney said the top ten result was an amazing feat.
He added: “It was a great achievement to be featured at number nine in Insider magazine’s list of 100 fastest growing companies in Scotland. In the face of the recession and the news of companies across Paisley and Renfrewshire struggling to survive it’s great to have some positive news about local business.
“Since 2005 we have increased turnover from £250,000 per year to around £5million and now employ more than 80 staff. Now the success has been recognised by Insider magazine, we aim to be featured in the poll again.”
IQA was started as a gas works-only company in 2002 by ambitious Buddie Martin Watson.
As the company expanded, adding new branches including electrical work, joinery and utilities, business director Martin handed the reigns over to managing director David Gowans.
And the man in charge revealed IQA will continue its rapid expansion, providing job opportunities for both trained workers and new recruits hoping to build a career.
David said: “Since September we have taken on a joiner, seven electricians, an operations engineer, an admin assistant and an office manager. We’re providing opportunities when the community needs them most. It is also important to the company to remain close to the Paisley community and we have links with local schools and sponsor the under 19s St Mirren team.”
