Andy’s ready to rock New Zealand

MUSIC lover Andy McKee got more than he bargained for when he asked his favourite radio station for a free T-shirt.

Andy, from Paisley, sent an e-mail to Rock Radio DJ Tom Russell to try to blag a free shirt to take with him to New Zealand when he emigrates there.

But Tom decided he could go one better.

And he promptly invited Andy along to the studio for a guided tour.

Andy said: “I’ve listened to Rock Radio since it launched and thought I would be cheeky and ask for a T-shirt to take to New Zealand with me as a memento of home.

“I didn’t really expect to get an answer.

“So you can imagine my surprise when I got an e-mail asking me to come in to collect a shirt in person and meet DJ Tom Russell.”

While at Rock Radio’s HQ, Andy also met DJ David ‘The Captain’ Grant.

Andy added: “I’ve lived in the East End of Paisley all my life and I will really miss all my friends and family when I emigrate in the next couple of weeks.

“I’ve always found Paisley to be a really friendly place.

“I’ve never had any problems here and I just hope the people of New Zealand are as nice when I get there!”

Rock Jock Tom said: “It was a pleasure to meet Andy and I’m so glad we could sort him out with a Rock Radio T-shirt to take to New Zealand.

“I’m sorry we’re losing such an good listener but, hopefully, he can still listen online all the way over in New Zealand.”
