MUMS, dads, grandparents and youngsters are all invited to take part in a fantastic fun run this weekend.
Linwood Active has organised the 5k race to raise money and bring the community together.
The town used to have an annual 5k, but the last one was held in 1997.
Now, Linwood Active, supported by Jogging Buddies and Renfrewshire Leisure, has organised what it hopes will be the first of many annual races and fun days this Sunday.
Committee member Lesley Compston said: “Nobody knows why the 5k ended, there was no obvious reason for it.
“But we’re hoping to get it back up and running and hold an annual fun day at the same time.
“We’ve organised the 5k as well as a 1k for youngsters and anyone going round with buggies.
“There will also be a fun day afterwards with a bouncy castle, face painting and food and drink stalls.
“We hope everyone in Linwood comes out and supports the event so it can become an annual community fun day again.”
Every child under 16 who manages to complete the run will be given a goody bag.
“There will also be spot prizes given out.
“Everyone who finishes will receive a medal.
The 5k route will leave Linwood Sports Centre and go around the Linwood woodland route while the 1k route will go around the jogging track at the sports centre.
Anyone who wants to take part can pick up an entry form from Linwood Sports Centre and Linwood Community Centre.
Alternatively, you can register on the day from 10am till 10.45am.
The 5k race starts at 11am and the 1k starts at noon.
All children who are aged 16 and under taking part must be accompanied by an adult.
Entry is £3.50 for the 5k and £1.50 for the 1k event.
To register in advance please send completed forms to Linwood Active, 66 Braidwood Place, Linwood, with a cheque made payable to Linwood Active.
The event takes place on Sunday at Linwood Sports Centre.
