AN eagle-eyed believer has sparked a Christmas mystery after reporting a spooky sighting of UFOs flying high in the sky above Renfrewshire.
The sighting, which took place on a clear night, has been reported to a leading UFO research website.
Now experts hope to discover if the unusual event was merely Santa running a pre-Christmas test drive on his sleigh or if there is something far spookier going on.
A Renfrewshire man got in touch with the HBCC UFO Research organisation to tell how he spotted two bright lights in the sky flying close to each other but in a straight line.
The believer, who was waiting for a bus at around 8pm when he made the sighting, said: “Although they looked like stars, they were too low in the sky.
“At first, I thought they were helicopters but there was no noise and they emitted a bright, almost off-white light.
“They didn’t move and, when the bus came, I kept looking at them. The bus travelled for about four miles and they stayed in the same place.
“The height must have been about 200 feet and, as it was a clear, cold night, the stars were visible but these lights were an awful lot closer to the ground.”
Bosses at the HBCC UFO Research website were told the sighting was made in the sky to the south of Renfrew while the man was standing opposite the police station in the town’s Inchinnan Road.
And this is not the first spooky sighting in the Paisley area to be reported to the website in recent weeks.
Last month, the Paisley Daily Express told how two residents in Elderslie contacted the website to say they had spotted glowing orange-coloured objects moving around as they tailed planes coming in and out of Glasgow Airport.
Now UFO experts are urging Buddies to be on the alert amid suggestions that aliens could be keeping an eye on Paisley and neighbouring towns and villages.
Brian Vike, director of the HBCC UFO Research organisation, told the Express that sightings of unidentified flying objects are becoming more common in Renfrewshire.
And he believes the truth is out there.
Brian said: “In Renfrewshire, there are sightings being reported but, for each of these cases, there may be many more UFO sightings not being reported.
“People are afraid that their personal information will be made public and then the ridicule starts and, at times, it can become frustrating and downright annoying for the person who is just reporting what they saw.
“They are not saying it is an alien craft of some kind, they are just witnessing something that looks unusual to them.
“Also, many folk just do not know who to contact. There are still many people who do not have the use of a computer to search for a UFO investigator. A lot of times, people will see something odd and keep it to themselves or maybe talk about it with their families and we miss this valuable information.
“There are many, many more sightings going unreported.”
