Two men rescued from house fire

TWO men were rescued from a house fire in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The ground floor of Gleniffer House – a former bed and breakfast – went up in flames at around 4.40am.

Within 15 minutes, firefighters from Johnstone had arrived at the scene in Glenpatrick Road, Elderslie, and used a ladder to safely rescue the men.

A second fire crew from Paisley was also sent to the property and the blaze was brought under control by 5.35am.

One source said: “There were initial reports that a third person was in the property but, thankfully, this turned out not to be the case.

“The fire started on the ground floor and the emergency crews used fans to get rid of the smoke.”

Yesterday, investigations into the incident were continuing.
