Charity celebrates 75th anniversary

RESIDENTS in Renfrewshire are being encouraged to get involved in Diabetes Week.

The event, which runs until Saturday, is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Diabetes UK charity.

Roadshows, open days and sponsored walks are taking place across Scotland and will focus on the need to stay healthy and avoid complications related to the condition.

Jane-Claire Judson, director of Diabetes UK in Scotland, said: “Diabetes Week is always a great opportunity to raise awareness of diabetes and at the same time help raise funds to support our work, in particular our research.

“This year, we have been particularly ambitious by having a full week of activities based in our Glasgow offices. This week will include sessions for human resources managers, seminars and consultation events, as well as Tai Chi.

“We hope to interest a broad spectrum of people to take on the message that acting positively now will improve people’s lives in the long term.”
