Man’s death not suspicious

POLICE last night confirmed that the tragic death of bar worker Callum McColl is not being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination to establish how the 24-year-old Houston man died has now been held, allowing officers to rule out foul play.

Callum was found dead at the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow on Sunday.

He is believed to have suffered head injuries after losing his balance and falling down an embankment.

The former architecture student had last been seen in the Byres Road area of Glasgow at about 3am on Saturday.

Callum didn’t turn up for work at the Fox and Hounds pub in Houston on Saturday and his anxious parents reported him missing at around 12.10am on Sunday.

They were heartbroken later that day when they were told his body had been found.

Colleagues at the Fox and Hounds, where Callum was a popular member of staff, have also been left devastated by the tragedy.

Last night, a police spokesman said: “Following a post mortem examination, I can confirm that the death of a 24-year-old man whose body was found at the Botanic Gardens is not being treated as suspicious.”
