Long wait for latest Megane
THERE'S been a positive deluge of newcomers from Renault recently and the latest to reach showrooms is the latest incarnation of the Mégane Sport Tourer.
But it's a question of 'look but don't drive away' since the first customers for this new family hold-all will not be able to take delivery for at least another three months.
It seems an odd way to 'launch' a new car - even odder when you consider the fact that, initially, prospective buyers can only order from four trim levels - Expression, Dynamique, TomTom Edition and Privilège - while a fifth version, badged Extreme, will be available to order in the autumn.
The initial 21-model range is priced from £15,485 to £22,785 on-the-road, with comprehensive equipment levels and 1,600 litre boot capacity. Deliveries will start in November.
Several new engines and transmissions appear in the range for the first time. There's a total of four power choices - the 1.4 TCe (Turbo Control Efficiency) 130, 2.0 CVT 140 (Continuously Variable Transmission), 2.0 dCi 160 FAP and 2.0 TCe 180.
