A MUM who put her young baby daughter forward for a celebrity lookalike competition was overjoyed yesterday – after judges agreed that her tot looks like Lord of the Rings creature Gollum.
Paisley youngster Corrie Jane Mack has been named as one of 10 finalists in the nationwide Celebritots contest, organised by BabyTV – the UK’s first 24-hour, commercial-free TV channel for infants, toddlers and their parents.
Competition judges are seeking out babies and toddlers who have a remarkable resemblance to TV and movie stars.
Corrie Jane’s mum Jenni sent in a snap of the tiny tot crawling along the floor which she reckons makes her look just like hideous hobbit Gollum from the film series based on JRR Tolkien’s trilogy of fantasy books.
And judges agreed that the resemblance is uncanny.
Jenni told the Paisley Daily Express: “We were shocked, yet thrilled, to be picked as one of Baby TV’s finalists for Celebritots.
“We, of course, think Corrie Jane is the most adorable baby in the country but her unfortunate crawling pose in this picture made us think of Gollum.
“We are glad Baby TV saw the funny side like we did.”
The tot fought off stiff competition from hundreds of rival entrants to be named in the Top 10 of the Baby TV competition.
Judges were impressed by how much her pose in the photo makes her look like Gollum.
Corrie Jane will now battle it out with tots who claim to be a spitting image of Mr T, Scary Spice and Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.
Wee lookalikes for Amy Winehouse and EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell are also in the running.
Judges from BabyTV will announce an overall winner from the 10 finalists later this month, with the winning parents receiving a cheque for £500 and the chance for their little lookalike to be featured on BabyTV.
The winner and runners-up all receive a bumper prize pack of BabyTV goodies.
A Fox International channel, BabyTV airs in the UK on Sky channel 623, Virgin Media channel 703 and BT Vision.
The channel is available around the clock and is suited to parents and their young child’s needs throughout the day.
