SCHOOL dinner lady Liz Lamont has retired after 36 years – and her pupils and colleagues say they will miss her fabulous soup.
Bingo buff Liz started off as a cook at St Paul’s Primary, Foxbar, and retired as catering manager after serving lunches to three generations of Buddies.
A spokesman for the school said: “She spent 36 years in the kitchen and has seen a lot of kids come and go over that time.
“She served three generations of pupils, and she made a great pot of soup! Her soup was renowned and will be badly missed.
“Her colleagues have been joking that, now that she has more time on her hands, she will put her bus pass to good use and go to the bingo more often!”
A whip round by children, parents and staff collected money to buy Liz some lovely flowers and a necklace and her kitchen Buddies also bought her a CD system.
