Paolo dumps Derrick for T in the Park

PAOLO Nutini is returning to T in the Park – this time under his own name.

The Paisley singer/songwriter played Scotland’s biggest music extravaganza last year under the pseudonym Snake Derrick And The Vipers but no-one will have to play the name game this time after he was confirmed for the Balado event.

It will be the third time the former St Andrew’s Academy pupil has played the event and will see him line-up alongside big names like The Killers, Blur and Kings of Leon.

Festival organisers DF Concerts and Tennent’s Lager also confirmed Razorlight, Lily Allen, Brit Award winners Elbow, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Katy Perry, Pendulum, Peter Doherty, White Lies, Manic Street Preachers, The Ting Tings, Maximo Park, Seasick Steve, James Morrison, Jason Mraz, Squeeze, Mogwai, Mars Volta, Airborne Toxic Event, Gaslight Anthems, Hockey, Felix Da Housecat, Dave Clarke, Slam, Beardyman, Simian Mobile Disco (Live), Claude Von Stroke, and Silicone Soul are to appear.

The three-day event, which kicks off on Friday, July 10, is a huge hit with Buddies and their fellow Scots.

Some 45,000 tickets have already been sold for the event, with a further 40,000 tickets due to go on sale tomorrow.

Festival boss Geoff Ellis said: “It’s no wonder our early-bird allocation of tickets sold out in under a day.

“But T in the Parkers will get another chance to buy when tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9am.”

Paolo has also confirmed that he will be appearing at the Caprices Festival in Crans-Montana in Switzerland on Thursday, April 16.
