MUSIC lovers can rock on with some of Renfrewshire’s finest up-and- coming bands tonight when an eagerly-awaited gig takes place at Paisley Town Hall.
Popular Scots singer-songwriter Tommy Reilly is headlining the event and he will be supported by bands from across Renfrewshire.
The gig has been organised by Renfrewshire Rox, a group of young people who arrange various music events.
Barbara Sharp, 21, chair of the Rox organising committee, said: “These bands are the crème de la crème of Paisley, so it will be a great night.
“This is the fourth Renfrewshire Rox gig to take place this year. The plan was to have different heats and for the winners to play alongside Tommy Reilly at this weekend’s gig at the town hall.
“We held gigs outside Paisley Arts Centre and at Paisley Grammar School and St Andrew’s Academy earlier in the year.
“The bands are all great and we’re delighted to have Tommy Reilly playing as well. He’s a good role model for young people.”
Tommy won the Orange Unsigned Act contest earlier this year. He is joined on tonight’s bill by local bands Pacific Theatre, Variety Suite, Majestic Dandelion, Carnivores and Aerials Up.
People of all ages are welcome to go along to the gig, with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and all proceeds will go to local charity Star 2 Soweto and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
They are available from Paisley Arts Centre until 5pm and admission can also be paid at the door.
